Has anyone noticed it’s gotten quite cold recently? Missing those hotter days? If so, we’ve put together the perfect solution for you - five great getaways for some warm winter sun.

Lanzarote makes the perfect winter destination for many reasons, not least because it offers long days and sunshine all-year round - the shortest day of the year still has 10 hours of sunlight - with sunrise around 7:30 and sunset around 18:00.
One of the best things about Lanzarote is that the tours, restaurants and bars don’t shut. However, they may operate within different and shorter hours - so do plan as much as possible and book in advance.
Make sure to delve into some of Lanzarote’s diverse cuisine. When the night draws in, it can get chilly - Ropa Vieja (a popular stew dish) or Caldo de millo (a delicious corn soup) provide some perfect winter food.
It is also worth noting that Spain recently announced that from 1st December, UK travellers will need proof of a Covid-19 vaccination in order to enter.
Average Winter Temperature: 20°C
250 miles north of Tenerife, you’ll find Madeira - another Mediterranean climate with potential for rain but guaranteed warm temperatures.
Perhaps the biggest selling point and reason to visit the Madeira Islands during this time of the year, would be for it’s New Years firework show. And despite what you may think, this doesn’t last for just one night. The festival atmosphere begins early December, and runs all the way through until Dia de Reis, otherwise known as Three Kings day, on January 6.
Madeira is also a popular destination for cruises, with large docks and stretching beaches. So, why not take a stroll along the coastline in a t-shirt in December? Sounds pretty good to me.
Average Winter Temperature: 20°C
During this time of the year, Miami has very low humidity and little rain, and contrary to popular belief, it is more than just glittering white sand and picturesque beaches.
A steady stroll down Ocean Drive is a must. With Art Deco architecture forming the backdrop, cafe-style dining, pastel colours and iconic views, Ocean Drive has a dream-like, vintage affection.
If you have any interest in watercraft, you must visit the Miami International Boat Show. From powerboats, sailboats, fishing vessels to super yachts - this festival has it all. Alongside the boats, there’s various fun events going on, including entertainment and music. An ‘even bigger’ show returns February 16-20, 2022. Alternatively, Art Basel is an annual international show of modern and contemporary art that takes place in South Beach the first week of December.
Average Winter Temperature: 15°C
Set foot in a completely different climate (and different continent) and visit the beautiful country of Morocco - just a 3 hour flight from London.
Marrakesh is a popular destination, even in the winter, so book, plan ahead and prepare for it to still be lively. Speaking of lively, a trip to Marrakesh isn’t complete without shopping in the souks. Located in Medina, the souks (which loosely translates in French as ‘mess’) are the best way to immerse yourself into Morrocan culture. Important things to remember: 1) It’s easy to get lost so make sure you know where you are going and 2) Negotiate the price!
Average Winter Temperature: 23°C
Tel Aviv is popular for surfing, especially in the winter when the waves rise that little bit higher - so whether you’re an experienced surfer and a complete newbie, why not test yourself on the Mediterranean sea.
The city also has some great museums, particularly the Tel Aviv Museum of Art - a modern architectural building with the likes of Picaso and Dali inside. If history is more your thing, head to Steinhardt Natural History Museum. The five story building is only a few years old and is just as impressive. Throw in 14km of beautiful coastline, and it’s easy to see why so many are drawn to this vibrant city.
